Kansal provides an update on the progress of various PDD CSS projects

Jammu, February 26: Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department (PDD), Rohit Kansal chaired a meeting on Friday to review the financial and physical progress of the ongoing Centralized Projects (CSS) of the Power Department in Jammu and Kashmir .

The Principal Secretary reviewed the financial and physical status of the works in progress under various CSS executed by different agencies in various Districts and Circles of the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Managing Director Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Chief Engineer Distribution Kashmir/Jammu, Chief Engineer Transmission Kashmir/Jammu, Chief Engineer Projects Kashmir/Jammu, Chief Engineer Head of Planning/ Procurement Jammu, Head of Finance PDD, Heads of Project Executing Agencies (PIA) and Project Management Agencies (PMA), SE, EXEN and others concerned.

The Principal Secretary was informed that for the projects in Jammu Division, executed by circle and by district under the PMDP-Urban Scheme, out of a sanctioned amount of Rs 537.32 crore of central share, Rs 212.04 crore have already been spent. Similarly, under the PMDP-Rural scheme, out of a sanctioned amount of Rs 464.40 crore, an amount of Rs 126.76 crore was spent on the projects.

While reviewing the physical and financial progress of the CSS, Kansal instructed the concerned officers to remove all bottlenecks and right-of-way issues to speed up the execution of the projects.

He also instructed the engineers involved to prioritize work and formulate clear timelines for the speedy completion of these projects.

He also instructed the relevant officers to devise a system to continuously monitor and resolve all outstanding issues, including late payments, in addition to removing all bottlenecks such as forest clearing and land issues. In addition, detailed discussions were held on various issues, including the status of sanctioned projects with the current level of execution, the schedule for completion, the increase, the separation of power lines, the transformer of substation increase, the condition of 33KV and 11KV lines and other issues related to various PDD projects.

He also ordered the relevant chief engineers of the two companies (JPDCL, KPDCL) to minimize the gap between completing the projects and handing them over to be released to the public at the earliest.

The Principal Secretary asked the CEs of the two electricity distribution companies to ensure all compliances, including proper bookkeeping, timely audits and submission of CUs.

Kansal stressed that third-party monitoring and addressing any issues that emerged as a result of monitoring were essential parts of the compliance process and should be strictly adhered to.
