Dean Harris, from Rochford, drugged child and filmed his crime
A pedophile who filmed himself drugging and raping a young child has been in jail for at least 18 years.
Dean Harris was arrested after sharing the video on an adult chat site with a woman so disgusted she sent it to the police.
Officers investigating the 44-year-old then found a catalog of material featuring young girls and boys on devices he owned.
Harris, 44, of Alexandra Road, Rochford, has admitted one count of rape of a girl under the age of 13.
He also admitted to administering a substance, assault by penetration, sexual assault and a number of offenses related to the possession and distribution of despicable material during his appearance in Basildon Crown Court.
The court heard that the offenses came to light after Harris shared a video, along with his thoughts on the commission of the acts, to a worker on an adult chat site in a private conversation.
The person who filmed the cat notified the police.
Richard Burrington, prosecuting, said: “He indicated that he wanted to share something that was not on the public forum.
“During this conversation, the accused indicated that he drugged a child and had sex with him.”
The court heard that he also claimed he wanted to rape a child again.
Mr Burrington said: “The chat manager reported the conversation to the police.
“He had shown her specific videos showing a man performing sexual acts on a woman.”
Police discovered he had stored video of the rape.
He did it so that he could watch what he had done over and over again.
Mitigating Beth O’Reilly admitted it was a tough case to defend.
She told the court that Harris accepted full blame.
She said, “He accepts that he has destroyed lives.
“His actions affected those involved.
“We heard it in victim impact statements.
“It might sound hollow, but he’s sorry for it.”
Judge John Lodge sentenced Harris to an extended sentence of 26 years.
He was imprisoned for eighteen years.
He will spend another eight years under license for his despicable acts.
Judge Lodge, speaking in Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, said: ‘It was only because others, who he said shared similar interests, were appalled by his actions and loans. to report that this has been revealed.
“I have no hesitation in saying that you are a dangerous offender.
“There is a significant risk of further infringements on your part.
“I form this judgment for the length of time you observed indecent images and the cruel circumstances of this offense and all the offenses you have committed.
“They deserve to receive a long period of prison.”
