The Collège Sainte-Scholastique (CSS) volleyball team kicked off its 2022 season with its first training session on Saturday. Welcoming eight freshmen into the fold, bringing back a team tradition of training on the shores of Lake Superior.
Use the event to be able to build not only stamina, but also chemistry within the team.
“We’re really big with water workouts and enjoying that beautiful lake we have there. It hasn’t been easy getting into the lake this year so we weren’t really sure. We ran and jogged for a mile and then did a workout on the sand for about 30 yards doing different things. Then we jumped in the water, so that was awesome,” said head coach Dana Moore.
“It’s a tradition that Dana has carried on, usually we train in the water, but it was a bit too wavy for that. So we just had to go down a bit, but it was really good to start the pre -season with that,” added senior captain Alcia Draper.
The Saints’ first scrimmage is next Saturday, Aug. 27, against rivals UW-Superior. The first service taking place at 9:00 a.m.
