Council to hold special meeting and working session on Monday
DES MOINES, IOWA – Friday July 9, 2021 – Des Moines City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday July 12 to consider a Fareway meat market project at 2716 Beaver Avenue followed by a day of information work on various subjects. The in-person meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. in the boardroom.
Council action on Fareway will be broadcast on City airwaves Youtube channel and DMTV-7 on Mediacom, however, the working sessions are neither broadcast nor recorded. The presentation documents for the working sessions will be posted online after the meeting.
the working session will include these presentations:
- Master plan of the botanical garden site
- Electric vehicles / Alternative fuels
- Update from the Wastewater Recovery Authority (WRA)
- Private property towing
- COVID response: Housing
- New resources for neighborhoods
- Board updates
Working sessions provide council with briefings from City staff and community partners and do not include council action, public engagement or feedback.
City Hall will be open at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, members of the public will need to pass a security checkpoint before proceeding to the council chamber. Public space is limited to 25 people, and there will be no overflow area as the session will take place during working hours in the Great Hall.
