Aerial spraying of Toad Harbor swamp completed
OSWEGO COUNTY – Aerial spraying of parts of the towns of Hastings, West Monroe and Constantia ended this evening, August 24.
Oswego County has contracted with Duflo Spray-Chemical Inc. of Lowville to aerial spray the area of Toad Harbor Swamp near the north shore of Lake Oneida to reduce the population of mosquitoes carrying the virus. Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE).

Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said residents of Oswego County should continue to limit their outdoor activities to dawn and dusk, when mosquitoes are most active; wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, shoes, and socks when you are outside, wash away standing water around the house, and use insect repellents. Those that contain DEET, picaridin, and lemon eucalyptus oil are all effective but should be used according to label directions.
